I didn't know that

Noooo, trannies were only invented in 1983
shareWell, to be fair, we only know she was trans from the bio on the screen during the debriefing with Ripley in Aliens, which was 1986.
And the character herself is in the future.
There's nothing in the movie Alien (1979) to indicate she was trans.
LOL! This is a clear case of retrofitting. Back then, she was just considered 'Butchy".

Pretty insulting to Veronica Cartwright and Scott that Cameron did that. Not his call. If Scott did it in the original movie, no big deal.
shareMaking it something done to a child at birth is problematic in so many ways.... unless there' s mention of her being a hermaphrodite.
It's an EXTREMELY bizarre decision by Cameron regardless. There's no point to it.
shareI think its neat trans representation. Could have been more fleshed out.
shareIt's not Cameron's character to do that to. Insulting to Veronica Cartwright too. Should have made a new character trans if it was so important to him.
shareI think he or maybe one of his subordinates did this because of shock value how crazy the future is not because of trans representation. Back then trans characters were either added to laugh about them or portray them as villains or as body horror stuff.
shareYou talked to Ms. Cartwright about this matter? What did she say about it?
shareSaying a woman looks like a man isn't insulting?
shareYou're the only one suggesting that Cartwright looks like a man. Her character Lambert did not look like a man. The retcon of her history in the Alien sequel did not say she looked like man.
Where are you getting this "looked like a man" crap anyway? It seems that you just don't like Veronica Cartwright.
No she wasn’t
