Hints of Ash being a robot.

Ash does some strange things in in the beginning of the film. Notably, a couple of things he does at the breakfast table.

A. His mumbling to himself as though he lacks any real social skills and
is merely "mimicking" the others behavior.

B. Reaching across the table for the milk instead of asking Dallas or Lambert
to please pass it down.

Also, his rapid running in place when Dallas, Lambert and Kane are off the Nostromo and on their way to the derelict ship always struck me as odd, even though it does simply appear as a quick way to warm up his body. Yet, he's a robot, why would he need to do this?

Anyone else notice any "quirks" about Ash that hints at him not being human?

Opening lines of the film:

Kane: Oh, I feel dead.
Parker: Anybody ever tell you you look dead, man?

Drinking the "milk". It's clearly fuel he needs to help his circuits function that we see spew out of him later.

At the beginning of the film, everyone's sleeping with their arms folded except for Ash who is just laid with his arms straight down both sides of him.

I can honestly say that I never saw anything that would make me think that Ash was a robot the first time I saw the movie.

He just seemed rather cold and heartless, a real Company man.

Never understood why he did not want Ripley to look through his microscope. I figured he was just an OCD type.

After repeated viewing I noticed some odd things about his behavior. But on first viewing, he just seemed like the logical, unemotional type.
