Overrated
This movie was not funny to me and was overrrated. I think lots of other movies were funnier and I cannot understand why this one is viewed as such a classic. But everyone is entitled to their own opinions.

sharewere their any parts you disliked especially ?
i find this is one of the more satisfying comedy movies (it doesnt try so hard).
I've seen it once and didn't laugh and thought it was forgettable. I feel like there are so many other movies I have laughed at and thought were really funny and this one is always at the top of countdowns on TV yet movies like Life, Harlem Nights, Stir Crazy, Half Baked, Im Gonna Git U sucka are never on the list.
shareBecause Life, Harlem Nights, Stir Crazy, Half Baked, Im Gonna Git U sucka all SUCK
sharehalf baked is the only funny movie she named, I call her a she for not likinh this movie

No, that's not sexist at all.
It's time to hold your loved ones
While the chains are loosed
And the world runs wild
Women have differnt tastes and are inherently different to men, how long you been alive? get used to it
shareOh, if that's the case, I'd definitely say the humor was 'guy' humor, but my wife thinks it's as funny as I do.
shareWomen have different tastes? I keep hearing that and I think it's bull.
I saw Animal House the first week it came out, in a theatre. There was so much laughing we went back the next day to see it again, we'd missed half the lines. PS I am a woman. :)
that's fer sher - never seen one of 'em because we knew they sucked when they came out!
shareExactly. They probably think "barbershop" and "Soul Plane" were artwork....
"I find your lack of faith disturbing"
you forgot Friday, since you obviously only like "black" comedies.
What the $%*& is a Chinese Downhill?!?
yeah thanks i forgot that one and also I forgot to mention I was trying to make this a race issue not a comedy one.
shareMystery solved then.
shareAnimal House absolutely annihilates all of the movies you listed. One of my favorite comedies of all time.
shareAnimal house started this kind of comedy, and back in 78 this stuff was hillarious because there was nothing else like this and it's still funny now but not like 78.
Don't ever call me a kubrick hater, or I will have my droogs beat you to death.
I think I know why you don't like this movie.
shareKindof young, aren't you?

I second that. I thought I was going to laugh real hard. There are like maybe 2 laugh out loud scenes. The rest is just a smile in your face. The movie is well done, but it's not what I would call a hilarious movie, and I think it's very overrated.
Uncle sandler went to the mall!!

Out of a hundred scenes ANYBODY would find something that was funny. Sorry you feel that way but I found myself laughing every few minutes.

I find myself laughing out loud during the movie only when I'm watching with a group of friends. It makes me smile if I'm watching it alone. Its just that kind of a movie, not overrated for sure in my opinion
shareI agree. I guess it is just depends on your tastes in humor. I think Meet the parents is a better movie than this but didn't have reviews as good as animal house.
shareMeet the Parents is funny but not even close to the raunchy relentless assault on your ribs that Animal House is. Look, toga parties are still common today because of this movie. It's a classic. Meet the Parents just makes you sorta feel bad for Ben Stiller but Belushi alone, makes Animal House freakin' hilarious. Funniest movie EVER? No. One of them? Yes.
shareYeah, unfortunately Spike Lee angles more to the dramatic scene. You'll be stuck with the awful movies like Madea's Family Reunion, Are we There Yet and National Security. At least until you slip out of that racial coma of yours and actually enjoy REAL comedy despite skin color.
I myself am a fan of the Friday trilogy however. DDDDDDDAAAAAAMMMMMNNNNNNNN!
I don't know if it's really overrated, the first time I saw it was about 2001-2002, and I thought it was hilarious. It's still some what edgy and funny in this day and age, imagine when it came out? It's no doubt why this is considered a classic... and to the people naming off comedies like Meet the Parents.. ugh.
