Demi Moore on the Cover?

I guess the rumors are true that it is indeed Demi Moore on the cover of that VHS everyone has seen so many times.

THATS AWESOME!

I knew it couldn’t be Camille Keaton. 😆

I'm glad that cover didn't come out until 1980. I don't know when it came out, but at least she was 17 or maybe even 18 in it.

reply

It’s no wonder that she hasn’t commented on that picture often in all these years.

reply

She was 18 in 1980 and posing for full nude photos for magazines.

Oui magazine published a nude pictorial with her and her awesome bush in Jan. 1981 before anyone knew who she was.

They republished them again a year later after she joined the soap opera General Hospital.

One thing I realized the millisecond the star of the movie appeared.......

She's not on the cover art of the DVD.

reply

The original title of the film was Day of the Woman which included a less exploitative cover art. A couple years after it’s release they revamped the cover and changed the name to cash in at grind house theaters and the VHS boom was happening.

reply

Imagine if she had been the star of the film.

reply

I read somewhere she admitted in her autobiography that it was her.

reply

I read the same thing. how weird is that? lol

In her memoir Inside Out, Demi Moore confirmed that she is the scantily clad woman on the film's poster with her back turned.

She moved out for good when she was 16 and moved to Los Angeles, first shacking up with a 28-year-old musician, before meeting first husband Freddy Moore, who was married and 29 when they first hooked up. She lied about her age and posed nude for Japanese magazines, before getting real modeling jobs. One of her first gigs: The body shown on the poster for "I Spit on Your Grave."

she would have been 16 in that pic. I doubt thats her.

reply

The film was finished in 78 but didn't get a distributor until 80. So she could have been 18 when the cover was actually shot.

reply

oh interesting...its weird they choose a random girl. considering she was a nobody in 1980.

reply

A nobody with a great body in the 80's to ending up as Mrs. Bruce Willis with 3 kids together.. Not bad

A producer who bought the video rights was also producing the horror movie Parasite, which co-starred Moore. He thought she had right backside for the poster.

reply

“In fact, it isn’t Camille Keaton on the original "I Spit on Your Grave" poster but a pre-fame Demi Moore, which the actress confirmed in her 2019 memoir.”

I actually met and spoke with Camille Keaton last year. I purposely did not bring up I Spit on Your Grave, but if I had thought of it I would have at least asked about the poster.

reply

Why not? It’s the only film anyone knows her from.

She started her acting career in Italy, and I am a big fan of those films that she made there. I asked her how she ended up there and she said she had an uncle who lived close to Rome, and she knew Clint Eastwood got his start there. So I brought several DVDs of her’s from that era and when she saw one of them she said “OMG this is my favorite film I was ever in!” We talked about her time making there and she really was very nice.
