Just got the old school vhs...

I must say, that i found it even more scary, with the grain, and the cropped frame. Whenever Michael pops out you don't quite see him cause he's out of the frame, which I think is more scary. Plus the white mask really seems to pop out even more with the old school vhs format

Watching films on VHS is a cool retro experience sort of like playing an NES but I think we can all admit the charm derived from such experiences is nothing more than nostalgic. The films never looked as bad as that in theaters. 35mm film is beautiful and still better than 1080p HD. But any kid who grew up with an actual video store or remembers seeing these films on TV before the days of HD will at least remember those days fondly even if the picture quality would make the director and cinematographer cry at destroying all the work they put into it.

I'm gonna watch the bluray pretty soon.

The only downside of VHS is wear and tear. It can glitch and break. DVDs and Blu Rays get scratched, but can be cleaned with the proper material and good as new. Even so, that medium is not going away any time soon, so it can be replaced. VHS tapes are harder to find.

What I used to like about the full screen,is you didn't see the shadow of him coming up the stairs behind Laurie and the kids,so it was a much better jump scare to all of a sudden have the kids scream upon seeing him on the landing.
