Bailey or Jennifer?

I don't know about most of you guys, but I never, never, ever found Jennifer (Loni Anderson) the least bit attractive. I don't care for her Barbie Doll type face or body. I was always a Bailey fan. That cute, intellectual look with her glasses, always appealed to me even when I was a kid.

Give me Bailey anytime!

reply

Jan Smithers was a natural beauty. Loni was not attractive at all. Never understood her appeal. Ugly face and her breasts were her only redeeming feature. Bailey all the way.

reply

To each their own; but, "Ugly face????" Beauty is in the eye of the beholder; but, that's just crazy.

Meanwhile, I preferred Bailey, especially after they stopped covering up her face so much with the glasses and hair (and I was into her then). She was pretty. smart, passionate, funny, and shy, which gave you the feeling that there was a smoldering passion hidden inside (which comes out in things like the episodes with the nude photos of Jennifer).

Fortunately, Ah keep mah feathers numbered for just such an emergency!

reply

Both great....but Bailey is the correct response : )

reply

If you look them up on the return interviews, you will see Jennifer has held up a little better but both were smoking in the day!

reply

Well Jennifer was certainly attractive, but Bailey hands down.

reply

I always identified with Bailey, being a shy, nearsighted, bookish female, and her evolution through the series was encouraging for me.

But I also liked Jennifer because she had empathy and intelligence as well as the more obvious sex appeal - I loved how she supported Les whenever he needed it, and one of my favorite moments in the series is the one where she brings the staff together after they've all been quarreling. She characterizes each of them nicely ("Johnny, the worn out uncle who always wanted to be a sailor ... no that's not right; I could never pin you down." And about Bailey: "The shy beautiful sister with the brains).

Also nice was how the two women hung together, and, though so different, really liked each other and understood their own and the other's values so well. It was a nice relationship, and it felt natural.

reply

Yes Bailey by miles!!

reply

Bailey! I always thought there was a missed opportunity---which probably would've been best realized around 1982 or so---to pair the amazingly beauteous JAN SMITHERS with the now-unfortunately deceased MARCIA STRASSMAN (aka "Mrs. Kotter") as serious-looking, glasses-wearing detective partners in a show called "Undercover Sexy"! On rare times, the ladies will both venture out into their world (purely by accident) sans glasses, and be completely oblivious to the overwhelmingly positive hormonal response (from both men AND women!) as they both simply try to go about their day-to-day crime-solving business! Probably would've made a good show! Kinda like 1984's "Partners in Crime", starring LONI ANDERSON and LYNDA CARTER!

reply

Jennifer for a fling, Bailey for a long term relationship.

Were Bailey and Jennifer the only female characters on the show besides Mrs. Carlson?

In addition to Carlson's mother, Carlson's wife, Carmen, appeared from time to time. Of course there were other female guest stars, but I don't think any of them made regular appearances.

reply

Total Bailey. Bailey's one of the most under-rated characters on the show.

reply

So Bailey! Stunning, beautiful, smart and looked so good in tight jeans!

reply

No, I liked Bailey, but she was kind of....mmmm...bottom heavy. It looked as though she was wearing mom-jeans. I just binged through he first two seasons and found myself losing interest in Bailey and gaining it in Jenny-poo. Jennifer was basically a good person, just on the lookout for a rich guy, and Bailey was seething under that girl-next-door front she put on. All the times she'd treat Johnny poorly because he went out with other women even though they weren't dating was a bit telling into what life would be like with her. Bailey was never stunning. Cute as heck, but not stunning.

reply

Bottom heavy? Seriously? I would have never used that term to describe Bailey. If anything, Jennifer had a bigger derriere than Bailey (not that I necessarily consider that a bad thing). Just because she didn't wear tight fitting clothing all the time didn't mean she had a bad figure. Watch the episode "Rumors" from season 4 when she's wearing Fever's t-shirt and skin tight jeans to get an idea of her figure.

And just for the record, Johnny and Bailey did frequently date over the course of the series (there were many references to them going out together), although I don't think it ever got serious.

reply

Yes, she had some junk in the trunk and it wasn't balanced out by the top, as was Jennifer. Although there were many times she was braless, which is always nice. There was even a bit of a side boob shot on the episode where Jennifer and Andy have the beach phtosoot. And it says in my post that I just went through the first two seasons. Bailey and Johnny weren't dating then, yet she would act all pissy to him if he went out with someone else. And there was a stretch when she wore things that covered her figure. I looked to see if she was pregnant, but she wasn't. Look, I said I liked Bailey, for decades I was a "Bailey guy", but watching the show after many, many years I noticed things I didn't before. I just said she wasn't AS attractive and Jennifer was MORE. It's just a TV show, ya know.

reply

she was kind of....mmmm...bottom heavy.

Whaaa??

I'm a great believer in 'each to their own tastes' but, saying that "Bailey was kind of bottom heavy" is like saying a Cessna two-seater plane is kinda large. I mean for argument sake, a case could be made that compared to another etc, etc... Bottom heavy simply would never occur to me as a description of her though. I mean she has nicely curved hips on a slim build.

In fact, I'd have said Jennifer was much curvier than Bailey overall. Absolutely nothing wrong with either of the two ladies mind you.

~ A vote for Bailey though in case I hadn't already posted here.

Eeek!!! I'm getting dressed.

reply

Bailey by a mile. She was smoking hot with those glasses and tight jeans.Had a big crush on her in the 80s.

My pick is Big Guy's mother...
