Given what is known of the Star Wars franchise after the original film, Luke Skywalker is told a lot of lies by those closest to him in A New Hope.
Most of these are retcons because Luca decided to become a toy salesman.

1. Obi Wan dying from Uncle Owen.
2. His father dying from both Uncle Owen and Obi Wan/Ben.
3. Darth Vader killing his father from Obi Wan/Ben.
It is true that Obi Wan never did own R2 so he was not lying when he said he did not remember ever owning one.
As for most of the others, nothing is canon after the OT.
Those are just all dreams and nightmares of Luke which explains why they are clusterfucks and really bad movies that do not deserve the SW name.
