massively overrated

This movie is mediocre at best, and that's if I am being generous. It is so full of complete stupidity you may want to scream at the screen. The wife is such a stupid cow you long for her death...Honestly, who would really take moral issue with dispatching these morally reprehensible little *****. The movie could have been much better if about 100 more of these grinning ***** got slaughtered. Overall this movie is no "masterpiece" that it's touted to be. It is only remotely effective because it is so easy to hate the kids...

This film belongs to a genre of which the plot fully depends on the annoying stupidity of the main protagonists, whose death can only be rejoiced.

Other such films would include Eden Lake, The Long Weekend and Shrooms.

I thought the film was pretty mediocre myself. This largely resting on completely unsympathetic protagonist whose reactions throughout the scenarios seems completely illogical-here, let's raid this empty ice cream cart--oop, never mind; let's check in this abandoned hotel, let this strange voice from across the town serve no other purpose than be a strange voice, let's lie to my wife about the beating she saw with her own eyes, let's not beat feet out of Dodge (and treat things like an attempted vacation is still ongoing) once we start witnessing corpses and homicides. Let us not react with normal survival instinct because supposedly...who can kill a child??????. Oh, and the protagonist were just annoying in general. The kids were more sympathetic--or at least interesting and seem to have a coherent plan.

massively overrated

Nah, I don't think so. I liked it and felt that a 7 1/2 out of 10 is a good score for this film. I was happy to see that it's currently rated a 7.4 here.

I don't see how this film is overrated. Not many people know about it except hardcore horror fans. It's certainly not as well known as other similar films like Children of the Corn. I feel that if someone doesn't like a certain movie but someone else does, that automatically makes it "overrated" in their eyes. "I hate this film but 2 other people liked it" is the criteria for a film being overrated on IMDb.

Haha I agree!

The movie definitely is not a masterpiece. It's a decent horror /thriller flick, worth watching.

I saw the film yesterday. I always judge the old films having in mind the date they were made.

For a 1976 film this was an excellent film.
Is not as slow as a lot of other films of the same era or even the 80's.
Nice edition and landscapes.

The ending was great, the kids are planning to kill the adults of the whole world, that would be practically the end of the human race.

They never explain what kind of thing is happening to the kids, they are like "possessed zombies", and his madness is transmitted by simply looking at the others.

I have to disagree with some users saying that they should not have killed any children, in the movie they are practically zombies, so one of the best parts is when the guy tries to escape from them and kills some of them in the process.

In that aspect the film could be similar to George Romero "The Crazies", but with the madness only affecting children.
Of course the concept of the "kids revenge against adults" is very obvious.

I understand the gore level wasn't up to your sickening standard. Not enough jump scares and petrol bombs going boom every 30 seconds. The only true way to gague a good film in your POV. Sad.
It is a truely disturbing film.
