The Chief killed McMurphy because he thought McMurphy was ignoring him?

First and foremost this is a movie based on a book.

Read the book, and you will find out why the Chief kill Mac.

It is not funny, this is a mental institution,and thing bad happen to to innocent people.

We all know the real reason why he killed him. But, with the way the movie makes it look, and to people who won't or haven't read the book, it makes Chief look like he killed him for that reason. I'm not saying that's what happened or that the movie did that, but a lot of the kids in my class who failed tests and didn't read the book said the same thing after they watched the movie. So, I can see what they're saying, but it's still not the real reason.

I thought it was pretty clear in the movie. It showed the scars on his head, from what the hospital had done to him. It showed the chief's sadness as he realized that McMurphy was, for all intents and purposes, dead. I don't know how anyone could have interpreted that scene any other way. I guess nobody in your class ever heard of lobotomies before, in which case it's not a very good school evidently.

Plus it was alluded to earlier in the movie when after given shock treatments, he returns pretending to be lobotomized, fooling everyone, only to then "snap out of it." I never read the book, but the movie was very clear about the ending.

You should make a new vid interpreting the end of Do The Right Thing as Mookie throwing the trash can through Sal's window because Sal never puts any sugar in his tomato sauce to cut the acidity. Everyone knows that's the real reason Mookie did it...

The hospital killed McMurphy. The chief just saved him from spending his life as a vegetable.
