My daughter and I were discussing Jaws and she said that until recently, she had always thought Brody was trying to get a closer look here at 0.43 seconds. I guess I could see how a kid might think that, but now that’s what I think of every time I see this scene. 😀

Interesting how kids think! Looks like Brody was dealing with his own dangerous situation as those metal cans fell behind him, right onto where he his head would have been just a second before!
I'd say that quick scene was edited in to provide pacing between Quint's close-up of his face screaming and the next angle of Quint being taken by the shark.
