I wonder when younger viewers see that scene if they realize cans were often made of steel and not aluminum when the film was made.

I was at a movie convention this weekend, and I found some empty cans of that brew. I bought two. One I pretended to drink, and then I crushed it. Got a great video of it!

The Narragansett can that Quint crushes is obviously made of aluminum. Most, if not all, beer cans were aluminum by the 1970's.
