In this movie it's a great crash between two different type of women: the absolutley fabolous pin-up Raquel and the always bitchy evil icy Faye. The most hottie is surely Welch but Dunaway has a sort of decadent charme.
I'm sorry guy but only a woman can assert that in this movie Faye Dunaway was more sexy than wonderful Raquel Welch....the women can valorize the elegance, the talent and the charme and Dunaway had those qualities here but if you asked to a man which of the two women he prefers the answer would be Raquel Welch without doubt.
No, it is not a given that a man would choose Raquel. Sure, Raquel is more statuesqe, buxom, and glamourous, but Faye is much more sexy and seductive. With Raquel her appeal is very obvious, but with Faye it is much more subtle, and yet much stronger. Faye is my choise. Unfortunately, Raquel has held her looks up better than Faye, especially in later years, but in these musketeer fillms, Bonnie & Clyde, Little big man (especially that one), Chinatown and Network Faye is damn hot. Or rather cold actually, but extremely sexy.
Raquel Welch shines and was unbeatable in this...I Think also than Nicole Calfan as Kitty was wonderful...Dunaway was right for her role: she was an harpy.
Counting the general voting it's Raquel 39 v 10 Faye. My vote has to be Raquel, never had a better introduction to female pulchritude in my formative years than Raquel in bikinis, doeskins, huge dresses or nightgowns (with very prominent nipples as in The Three Musketeers). That makes it 4/1 for Raquel.
Now if the question were Raquel or Christina (Hendricks) then I would find the choice more difficult!!
Raquel was perfectly cast in this movie and gave a great self - deprecating performance. I still grin every time I think of her clinging to the side of the carriage in her nightgown. Funny - yes! Extremely sexy - yes!
You had to live through that era as a red blooded heterosexual male to really appreciate the correct answer to that question. But Faye was always an excellent actor, and should be respected for her talent.
