Not My Thing

The movie title has just about achieved legendary status, and being curious, I had a look.
Let's just say I'm happy that 83 minutes was over.

Yes, it's a slasher film, and it's gory, horrific, creepy and disturbing, brutal and a horror.

However, what is so awesome about 1970's films, is their raw quality. Films should have a raw quality to them. Be authentic, real and disturbing in some cases.

This was a well put together film

Won't be watching this again.

Pfft. To each their own. I've watched it about 65 times. Awesome movie.

lol. Good on you then.

You should try TCM2 directed by Tobe Hooper. It had more humour in it, but was still quite disturbing.

It's actually not very gory. That's the fun thing that it is one of the most (if not the most) historically censored horror movies in the world when the director's intention was to make a scary movie that would have minimal blood and gore. He intended for it to be PG and was adviced by the MPAA on how to achieve it, but then they came back with an X.

The remake, on the other hand, was pretty gory, and so was its prequel.

reply

It would be funny if it was PG. Poltergeist, his big hit (Spielberg controversy notwithstanding) was pretty gruesome and rated PG.

reply

I always felt that Spielberg must have had privileges from the MPAA to get PG/PG-13 ratings for his movies that no way would have gotten one if they were made by another director. Many of his movies are often rated higher in other countries.

Slasher films aren't my thing. Let's just leave it at that.

reply

Well, I guess it’s technically a slasher but it was made before “slashers” were really a thing.

I respect the opinion. I like how a lot of the shots are framed, so I watch it every few years. But it can upsetting for some viewers.
