Agree. I’ve thought about what would have been the best way to continue from the first movie and I’ve never come up with a good story. Trying to bring Leatherface and his father into a sequel is difficult. The character of leatherface is just meant for 1 movie or else you just start doing the same thing over and over. You can only have him chase people with a chainsaw and cut them up so many times .. that leaves you with his father who is pretty one note. You can add in
More family members which TCM 3 did and it was somewhat successful but ultimately - they ran with the same basic formula as the other sequels. You can make a prequel and show the origin of the various family members but this is never as interesting as one might think. I honestly don’t want Leatherfaces childhood spilled out for me
