Coffy vs. Foxy Brown

This topic is probably up at the "Coffy" board but I'm here now so...
Coffy vs. Foxy Brown. In my humble opinion I think "Coffy" is a much better movie. Don't get me wrong. Jack Hill rocks and so does Grier but to me "Coffy" is way better than "Foxy Brown" for more reasons than one.

PS. Does anybody know if they're(imdb) sweeping out the discussion boards? Because

a) this topic is far over due for this films page and
b) I've noticed that alot of the boards I've been visiting are ridiculously short.

Foxy Brown does allright, but Coffy does much better.

I think a lot of it is the presentation...Coffy was kind of an indie thing...of course both movies were indie movies, at least to my understanding, but Coffy just seems to come out of nowhere, she's unknown, you don't know what she does or how she works, she's like an original...whereas Foxy Brown for some reason and don't ask me to explain because I really can't put it together myself, seems to fit in the more run-of-the-mill "blaxploitation" movies...of course it's very original, it blows you away, but it has it written all over it, Coffy is more of a real indepedent thing.

As for the topic, I like Coffy a smidge better. Foxy was a standard revenge flick. Coffy had a bit more heart and story to it.

Foxy Brown was originally supposed to be the sequel to Coffy, but it got changed at the last minute. Basically, they are the same character, more or less.

Coffy's a little dark(haha)its violent and waay more cruel then Foxy brown

I love Foxy. She was just too bitter and violent in Coffy. And there were better characters in Foxy Brown.

Coffy is better. Foxy is a little slow in parts. Coffy is non stop, and the topless hooker fight is legendary.

Love both, but gotta go with "Coffy" overall. It's just a much better movie imo.

I gotta tell ya, when this pic and "Coffy" came out, I worked for the distributor for AIP so I got to see movies for free all the time. I saw Coffy that way. Told them who I worked for, walked in the door, sat down and about a half hour into the movie when Pam Girer shoots a guy in the crotch, I was out of the seat and out the door. Waste of my time! The best thing about these pictures was seeing bare breasts on some hot looking ladies. That;s all. And I think Pam Grier was hotter in pics like Jackie Brown athen she ever was in these blaxplotiation bombs.

Foxy is a good but Coffy has to be one of the most underrated films I've seen. It's funny as hell to me that Foxy Brown is always mentioned as Pam Griers best movie when Coffy is really the best performance she gave outside of Jackie Brown.

I found Coffy very hard to sit through because the script was so bad. The main story points were fine and the cast did their best but the dialog was pretty poor.

I agree, the script was rougher in Coffy.
Foxy Brown is a more polished version of the same type of film.

I like the rawness of Coffy, but I hold Foxy as superior.

I also liked Antonio Fargus in FB, although he and Pam couldn't look less like brother and sister if one of them was white.
