Am I the only person on Earth who doesn't like this film?

...not only didn't like it, actually fell asleep! I was 13 that summer, and was a junior counselor for nine-year-old girls at a day camp. All my campers raved about this flick. Went to see it with a friend and honestly couldn't keep up with the plot. Seemed to me to be one long poker game (about as exciting as watching someone get their braces tightened) punctuated by I don't know what, 'cause I fell asleep. For real.

How could you not possibly follow this plot??? My god, has the world of film really gotten to the point that if an explosion doesn't happen every other minute people are bored? Who the heck needs character development and story anymore anyway? LOL FLABBERGASTED.

Yes, you are.

Yes.

Maybe...maybe not.

I love this film to bits. I wish there was a pill I could take so that I could take it and not know anything about it, see the film again as if it was the first time. One of my utter favourites. I'm surprised that someone didn't like it but it took me 25 years to watch "The Godfather" before being a total fan.

I, too, got THE STING the first time I saw it. All the twists kept me off-balance. On subsequent viewings, I enjoyed it more because I was now "in on the con." It's a pretty breezy film overall.

I would ask the OP if he's a fan of THE EXORCIST, and believes that film should have taken the Best Picture Oscar in 1973?

reply

Yes you are but you got all these replies so mission accomplished!!

Your opinion. I think there is about five people in the world above the age of 50 that don't like it.

I first saw the movie, in a theater when it came out in 1973-I was eleven and I loved it. However, with each viewing, I see something I'd missed or understand a plot point that I didn't quite get when I was younger. I suggest you watch it once more-the charisma of the lead actors is undeniable and there are a number of awesome character actors. My admiration for the script and direction has also grown with age.
