Your favourite character in Jesus Christ Superstar?

Mine is a toss-up between Caiaphas and Judas. Both played by actors with AMAZING voices, and both extremely hot (in my opinion). Furthermore, both had the most entertaining songs in the show.

But that's just my opinion. Who were your favourite characters in the show?

Without a doubt, Judas. While Ted Neeley was awesome, Carl Anderson just dropped a bomb on the entire production. Simply fantastic! Every time he appeared I couldn't take my eyes off of him.

I concur wholeheartedly they both have amazing voices (and hot too). They are also both complex characters in the sense that both are conflicted about the situation.
But if I had to choose only one, I would choose Judas because I really love "Heaven on their Minds".
It depends very much on the singers though - I LOVED Carl Anderson in the film, but when I saw the stage production and it was not him, I definitely was not as inclined for him to be my favorite.

I like Pilate. I like Jesus too, though he has a thick southern accent. (maybe he is from south galilea)

Real quickie.

As I type this Josh Mostel is on (Retro). Later on today, on TCM his dad in A Funny Thing Happened On the Way to the Forum. Funny out these things are scheduled from Up Above.

Happy Ash Wednesday and Lent everybody.

Jesus, Judas, and Mary Magdalene are my favorites. They were superbly acted with amazing voices. After them, I'd say Pilate because of the agony he showed for his decision.

I must warn you. I'm very susceptible to flattery.

For me, I like Pontius Pilate. Pilate's dream is an amazing song, just him and an acoustic guitar.

Then I have to go with Caiaphas and That screechy tenor guy. Both of the early songs when they plot to manipulate the Sanhedrin are wicked awesome.

" I see Blood and destruction, the crowd crowns him King which the Roman's would ban!"

" by leaps every minute, he's top of the Polls." The reference to " Jesus Mania"

every character jumps at you for different reasons though. Whether it's Mary Magdalen in " I don't know how to love him." or Jesus with "Gethsemane". Judas has an awesome song to start the whole ball of wax with " Heaven on their Minds" and the Apostel's "The Last Supper" is amazing. Having them do a freeze frame to show Michelangelo's The Last Supper poses was just a stroke of genius.

Ok, it's hard for me to pick just a few. Even Josh Mostel had a ball it seems, and his quirkyness adds a different tone to an amazing work.

I find it amazing the richness that Weber & Rice have extracted out of a medium that many did not think was capable of it. It is as richly textured as any classical opera... but with electric guitars :P
