For me, I like Pontius Pilate. Pilate's dream is an amazing song, just him and an acoustic guitar.
Then I have to go with Caiaphas and That screechy tenor guy. Both of the early songs when they plot to manipulate the Sanhedrin are wicked awesome.
" I see Blood and destruction, the crowd crowns him King which the Roman's would ban!"
" by leaps every minute, he's top of the Polls." The reference to " Jesus Mania"
every character jumps at you for different reasons though. Whether it's Mary Magdalen in " I don't know how to love him." or Jesus with "Gethsemane". Judas has an awesome song to start the whole ball of wax with " Heaven on their Minds" and the Apostel's "The Last Supper" is amazing. Having them do a freeze frame to show Michelangelo's The Last Supper poses was just a stroke of genius.
Ok, it's hard for me to pick just a few. Even Josh Mostel had a ball it seems, and his quirkyness adds a different tone to an amazing work.
I find it amazing the richness that Weber & Rice have extracted out of a medium that many did not think was capable of it. It is as richly textured as any classical opera... but with electric guitars :P
