The Wokexorcist. Coming soon.
shareThat was my immediate thought as well.
shareIt’s a black dad with a possessed daughter who seeks the help of older white lady from first movie to tenuously connect the rehash to the original. So basically a soft reboot disguised as a sequel a la Candyman, Force Awakens, etc

The Exorcist doesn't have a great track record with sequels, thought the third one actually was good. Hollywood is getting desperate, I guess.
shareI've seen other people praise the third one but I watched it and it just felt like a cheap horror movie to me, with not even a quarter of the gravitas of the first film.
shareWOW, does anyone else think that maybe The Exorcist isn't franchise material? The horror is in the unknown aspects of the original, with sequels you are going to have to map out the villain and give him a motive, backstory. They will just make him into Freddy.
shareThe Exorcist Part 9: Pazuzu - The Final Chapter!" "The Exorcist Part 10: Pazuzu versus Jason!"
shareFor sure. They'll put some spin on it to make the demon sympathetic.
shareEXACTLY! It's going to be all about how Pazuzu is really some benevolent ancient god of nature trying to impart wisdom that will save the world, but the evil, repressive Catholic church is perverting his message and tainting it with evil. Would not surprise me one single bit if they took that route.
shareliberals ruin everything, don't they? It's painful watching woke TV commercials anymore.
shareYeah, I mean, there are already three sequels and none of them are very good. This seems like an exceedingly shitty idea.
The first film is not even just a good movie but also a sober theological work. Everything else with the Exorcist name has been simple "entertainment."
"The horror is in the unknown aspects of the original, with sequels you are going to have to map out the villain and give him a motive, backstory."
Exactly, and that takes away from the original in my mind. Although that being said, some people like that sort of thing (I don't), so to each his/her own.
Ellen Burstyn is 88 years old!
shareToo bad they didn't continue the "The Exorcist" TV series from a few years ago, it was a pretty good show.
shareHe’ll probably just be an “insurrectionist” who needed re-education camp. “The power of Barak compels you!” Movie over.
