shareThe line I always remember (I haven't seen it in a LONG time) was when he was waiting for Diane Keaton to come over for dinner and at first (as I remember) he was all confident then he slowly talks himself out of even wanting to date her and says something like, "I wish she'd hurry up & eat her damn steak and get the hell out of here!"
shareyes, woody's funniest for sure. one of the funniest as well. top 10 for sure.

I total love this film. I think Allen is one of the funniest men alive. I always list Annie Hall as my favorite film because I think it has more to say about relationship but Play It Again Sam always tops my list of comedies. Its just funny. The bit where he drinks the Borben & Soda: you can't argue, even if you don't like Woody Allen that sceen is just funny.
shareI like the part where a guilt-ridden Alan is nervously imaging the
betrayed Dick's revenge in a series of vignettes, as a castrating
Tuscan baker and an ambivalent eskimo and a tuxedo clad sophisticate
with a ridiculous British accent giving his blessing to the new
romance.
And that whole scene with the Jackson Pollock painting at the museum.
And flashbacks to his marriage; "She wants to ski down a mountain
laughing like an idiot."
And Diane Keaton offering him $10 for the broken lamp.
And of course the recreation of the Casablanca 'three little people'
scene at the end.

I had Richard J. Anobile's picture book of the movie from 1977, with every line of dialog and a black & white still from every shot. Buy it!
script-o-rama.com has an entire shooting script. But that leaves out the sight gags, like after Allan scores and, on a natural high, he pats a guy reading a paper on the back... who falls off the bridge.
And the settings for the jokes, like the long walks up and down to Jennifer's house where Jennifer tells him "I slept with everybody. My schoolteacher, my sister's husband, the string section of the New York Philharmonic", he lunges at her, she says "What do you take me for?" and on the way down he muses "How did I misread those signs?"
SPOILER AHEAD The subtlest humor is the whole morning-after conversation, where Allan has had the greatest physical experience of his life, and Linda, well...
Allan: I haven't slept that well in years. Is it noon yet?
Linda: No, it's seven.
Seven? I didn't realise it was so early. You were fantastic last night in bed.
Thanks.
How do you feel now?
I think the Pepto-Bismol helped.
But Allan still confidently tells her:
"You felt like a woman last night and I felt like a man.
And that's what those kind of people do."
I just saw this for the first time today. Very funny and one of my favorite Woody Allen films. Two parts that had me crying laughing was the demonstration on how the Japanese eat rice and him knocking that guy off the bridge as he blissfully strolls down the street. I even saw it coming and it still killed me. There were a number of others that have already been mentioned. Definitely worth a rewatch asap.
shareHi, don't take me for a donkey or something, but the thing is that my native language is not spanish, can you please explain me the line "I think the Pepto-Bismol helped."??
Thanks
"with mountains of quotable lines"
I think Allen has some of the best in movie history.
They are just so random and off the wall, his movies never fail to cheer me up!
My younger sister even got into woody Allen after walking past the den and hearing him say "claustrophobia and dead bodies"!
Yes,but I can't quite remember my favorite from the movie: Bogart is trying to help Woody by feeding him lines, and Woody flubs it.
Something like:
Bogart: Tell she has such beautiful eyes.
Woody: You have such ... eyes.
Somebody help.
Then the look on his face when he says "she bought it".
Classic.
Definately my fav WA flick. "Sleeper" 2nd, "Take the Money and Run" 3rd.
"I think that boy's cheese slid off his cracker" The Green Mile
I agree, I also found it very funny
shareI go to see each new Woody Allen film and, for the older ones, rely on TV and DVD. But this will always be my favourite, since I first saw it years ago. I bought my first copy on VHS, and later the DVD, and if I ever need a laugh, this is the first film I reach for.
2 friends also love it and we crack up over our favourite scenes/lines - there are SO many good ones to choose from but, for me, the highlight is when he's getting ready for his date - records, track medal...
That's it, I've got to watch it again!

Laura, it's getting away from us again!
Could not agree more with the original poster. Love WA and have seen most of his older movies, now starting to catch up with his later ones.
The other one to give it a close run for me is Take The money and run ("I will break out of this prison if I have to stay here all my life").
Kpltd, that's one of my favourite parts too! Woody is trying to tell the girl that her eyes are beautiful and he ends up saying, "You have the most...EYES I've ever seen!" Haha! Oh man, this movie kills me!
I get the feeling you're violating somebody's basic human rights here...
