funniest scene?

I personally love Bunuel's bizarre sense of humor.

to me the funniest scene in the film is the end where the inspector just starts matter-of-factly arresting everyone just as they're sitting down to dinner, the scene where the entire army stops by to interrupt dinner, or when Rafael explains that "leftist guerillas are part of Mirandas 'National Mythology'."

Can't believe nobody has mentioned. When someone, I can't remember who, puts the Napoleon hat on the priest. The imagery there just kills me every time.

It's even funnier when you know Julien Bertheau (the priest) was famous in France for playing Napoleon, in three different films I think.

In terms of *beep* crazy" comedy, up there for me is the waiter with a daft expression frozen on his face, who does that bizarre walk across the dining room then drops two chickens on the floor.

The whole film is hysterical

When Raphael is talking on how they arrested an ambassador for carrying 40 kilos of blow... and they are all like woah, nononono, how could that happen??
And bam, Raphael starts handing them the cocaine he just smuggled... priceless

The Priest that seems to be the fired gardener, but suddenly you don't know anymore

"Well, if they bomb their own troops they must have their reasons"
