Great film...any others of this type? Era?

For some reason it gave me a WICKER MAN vibe, not from the story/ideas but from the feel of the film. I've seen WITCHFINDER GENERAL and liked it.

Can anyone recommend any films similar in theme or horror set in England or Europe pre-1800's?

Try MARK OF THE DEVIL with Udo Kier.

Ken Russell's The Devils and Diabel aka The Devil. Two of the most ban-happy/censored mindfunkers i've ever seen.

How about Hammer's Twins of Evil which stars the late, great Peter Cushing as a witch/vampire hunter.Mark of the Devil with Herbert Lom, Udo Kier & Reggie Nalder is another great flick.

Hi,

I'd suggest Lost Colony starring Adrian Paul of the Highlander TV series, 16th/17th Century adventure horror, set in New England were the colonists are mysteriously disappearing... these dark things in them woods. When the evil comes out in full it needs a thinking end round the problem as the old muskets are useless.

I'd also recommend as an absolute must see classic: Night of the Demon, set 1950's with an American Psychologist cursed due to his sceptisim and his only way out to beleive in Magic, & The Devil Rides Out set in 1920 one of Christopher Lee's best films.

Enjoy.

'Day of Wrath' is a film about witch hunts set in 17th century Denmark. It is set in a similar time period to 'Blood on Satan's Claw', and the action likewise takes place in an isolated rural community.

I recommend Brotherhood of Satan which is also from 1971. It felt kind of similar in style to me.

I've been waiting for you, Ben.

I watched that one not too long ago. Good movie and great ending.

A modern film set in a similar time period is The Black Death, with Sean Bean. Worth checking out if you haven't already.

To the OP: Yes indeed, the original Wicker Man, 1973, was brilliant.
