Awful score by Quincy Jones

What was Q thinking when he wrote this? Maybe the film's plot about electronic devices made him think that bloops and squeaks from monophonic synthesizers would be a cool effect. It gets tired real fast.

Bring on the funk, Q, and stash those synths in the closet with your other antiques.

Agreed - much of the score was like a kid experimenting with his new electronic keyboard on Christmas Day

'As a werewolf, I am obliged to mutilate people'

reply

Agree -- even calling this a "score" is being overly generous.

It was annoying as hell, and actually detracted from the film.

Just because something is novel doesn't mean it can't SUCK.

reply

I'd have to agree this score sucked, especially when you compare it to really good Synthesizer Soundtracks like Halloween or Blade Runner.

Quincy has been nominated for 7 Oscars though, so let's give him a break.

I just seen this and thought the same thing. Awful score by a talented guy.

All you idiots are forgetting that there is also a very sophisticated Jazz score included. The movie is about modern technology (of that time anyway). the score would've sounded inovative in the early 1970s...

"CG is good. CG works" Gordon Ghekko

reply

Agreed, its very intrusive/distracting/irritating to me.

reply

It was the start of the 1970s' so gotta try a new sound.
Looks based with the title credit fonts they used they wanted a computer feel to the movie.

reply

I LOVE the score to this film.
