Question about the episode The Hot Watch

They are sitting down to the table to eat what Edith calls Yankee Stew. I know Edith was trying to put one over on Archie but what is Yankee Stew? It seems someone is always trying to get my attention when the explanation is made. Hungarian goulash?

I've never heard of a dish called Yankee Stew. All I remember is Archie saying, "Well the Yankees struck out!"

Edith would rename dishes in order to get Archie to eat them. So I think she just came up with that name.

Often translated as “army base stew,” “GI stew,” or even “Yankee stew,” the dish takes its name from the way hungry Koreans in the 1950s boiled leftover food from U.S. Army bases—some donated, some pulled from the trash—to feed themselves and their families.
