This world is a comedy to those that think, a tragedy to those that feel.
Definitely Le armee des ombres.....one of the greatest movies i've ever had the pleasure of seeing.
shareFavorite: L'Armee des ombres. That movie is surpassed by rarely any in the history of cinema, leave alone melville. Le cercle Rouge and Le samourai too were definite masterpieces. Be it a study of the environment or a character study, melville excels in both.

Can't really understand why people rank Le cercle rouge near the top. It is a very good movie, but not that great.

I want to say Army Of Shadows is my favorite
But Le Cercle Rouge is the one I come back to over and over and over again. I have seen it about fifty times.
