MASSIVE Plot Hole:- One 1960s Nuclear Bomb Destroys The Entire Planet!

What were they smoking back then when they came up with this one?!!

Not even the Tsar Bomba came close to that. Therefore we must consider this a massive plot hole.

OR:- Alternatively, perhaps the apes in Escape were simply lying about seeing the Earth's crust melting as a result of this one nuke and were attempting to create a sympathetic cover story for stealing Brent's ship and using it to travel back in time...

This is the "fiction" in science fiction.

reply

It's no fiction. Nuclear bombs are very much real.

reply

It is not a bomb of the 60ies but thousands of years in the future after the evolution of the apes. So why not?

reply

Na, it's an old bomb that the mutant cultists have been watching over for a long, long time.

reply

Apes talk in this movie and the bomb is the part that bothered you?

reply

They're very evolved apes though. The bomb however is very old.

reply

Taylor explained that it was a doomsday bomb. One that could burn the whole planet to a cinder.

reply

Yes. It was supposed to trigger a chain reaction that would ignite the planet's atmosphere.

reply

Both the apes and the bomb evolved over time. Hence thats why one bomb was able to destroy the planet

reply

It was an alpha omega bomb, and in a part of the dialog they referenced it had a cobalt case. A cobalt bomb Is a fusion or fission bomb that had a casing of the metal cobalt-59 which is not radioactive. Once the bomb explodes and vaporizes the cobalt-59, the cobalt reforms over time as colbalt-60 which is very radioactive. The micro dots of cobalt-60 spread everywhere and have a 5 year half-life. It only takes breathing in a single dot or being exposed to kill you. It’s the original dirty bomb.

So, assuming the only living areas on the planet are where the apes and mutants are, ya, it could end the world due to the fallout.

But, it went off underground, which is not where you want a dirty bomb to go off, you want it to explode high up, so it rains down fallout on everything.

reply

Hahahahaha
"Massive Plot Hole" and all you can come up with is the Nuke??
As someone else pointed out it is Science Fiction, SOOO some thing are -- Made Up
THAT's what Fiction means

Here's one for you
The Apes are advanced enough to have reloadable automatic weapons
BUT
Only have muzzle loading cannon??
Ever try firing really old cartridges?? doesn't work that well

reply

Do they ever indicate what century mankind destroyed itself? The first film appears to occur 701 years after they launched.

reply

Apenheimer

reply

Wouldn’t the fact that it went off underground have massive consequences? I can see it having a chain reaction leading all
The way to the earths core.

reply

We can only thank god that the superpowers didn't do underground nuclear testing back in the 50s/60s...
