Believe it or not, I saw it several times at my dad's drive-in theater, maybe not in first-release, but close to it. I would have been a very young teen, and have to say most of it went over my head, but I at least got SOME of it... I'd actually heard of the Spanish Civil War, and knew that expensive private all-girls schools existed. Compare that to our idiot projectionist several years older who got NOTHING, except how dumb he thought it was to have a dance where most girls had to dance with other girls.
It however whas my first exposure to Maggie Smith, and for that I am eternally grateful.
