Someone should remake this

Excellent theme considering today's atmosphere.
Although state of the art for 1970, the computer technology
seems antiquated today. A little updating and this could fly again.

Ron Howard's fixing it. might be good, as long as Russell Crowe doesnt play Forbin...wouldnt mind seeing Clive Owen in that role.

I am a thorough tech-head, but I just love this film as it is, with the chattering relays, huge Nixie tubes, scrolling dot-matrix text and all.

The acting is great, and the premise is good, too. I have read all three D.F. Jones books, and I think the film is better.

I must admit, as an Apollo buff, I was very pleased with what Ron Howard did with Apollo 13. I was expecting a CGId-to-death glitz-fest, but I think he pitched it just right. I'd think if anyone could remake Colossus without giving in to the deire to lose the message and concentrate on the visuals, it'd be good old Richie Cunningham.

I agree. The movie is better than the book.
A remake would not be very realistic because we all now that the current OS out there needs to be rebooted every other day :)

Wouldn't work today. In times of the internet, home computers with quadcore or octocore-CPU more powerful than all "electronic brains" of the Sixties together, several Terminator-Skynet-movies, advanced fictional concepts about a semi-intelligent internet like in the Scfi-Series "Odyssey 5" the viewers would yawn or laugh.

Absolutely, someone should remake this. One of the best sci-fi movies ever, definitely the most underrated one. Maybe a sequel too.
