Heard That Barbara Bain. . .

...despised Stephen Hill because his religiosity held up production.

If true, I don't blame her. To me, the series doesn't even come to life until Peter Graves takes over.

Hill was a great actor, but he doesn't really register on the show. He also sounds like he was a self-indulgent pain in the ass.

Agree about Peter Graves

Stephen Hill was an Orthodox Jew and he was upfront with the show's producers that he wouldn't work on the Sabbath. Unfortunately they didn't take him at his word. He would leave before sundown on Friday even if it was in the middle of filming.

The show found a way around it by writing his character out of scenes.

I also agree that Peter Graves really brought the show to life.

Hill shouldn't have ever been signed.

Can't fault the man. Perfectly reasonable if he told them in advance. Their fault for not believing him and for signing him on the basis of their assumption.
