Great movie to see while drinking beer brought from the student pub many years ago into a packed auditorium where Bergen (Norway) film club showed it, filled with fans to as I remember it.

Russ Meyer is hard to love..but I enjoy his iconoclastic vision of filmmaking.
Tura was always a secret fantasy. So sexy in Astro Zombies. I too am surprised more people are not aware of this psychotronic classic. Whether these kids today know it or not FASTER PUSSYCAT continues to have a subversive influence in modern pop culture.

Faster Pussycat is quite possibly one of the most important films ever made, particularly if you are a belted, booted and buckled go-go girl with a bad attitude and even badder moves. Anyone whose life is not altered extensively after viewing ain't living,

I think the reason for this is 1) It's not out in DVD except in Europe and it's only a Region 2 disc. 2) At least in my neighborhood, our local Blockbuster doesn't carry out so again, this makes "Pussycat" hard to find. and 3) When I finally found a VHS copy, the store was charging $25 for it so if unless you REALLY REALLY want to see this (and on VHS no less) you have to shill out some major bucks.
That said, I LOVED "Pussycat" but due to the quality of the tape I couldn't quite make out what the revenge deal with the old man was all about and why The Vegetable had the reaction he did to the train. I thought his mom died while giving birth to him becuase he was "big even back then." Can somebody help me out with this?

reply

In the train scene the Vegetable said "He gets crazy when they go by", referring to his father. When Billie asked why he said "There are reasons." The old man later flips out and "talks to ghosts" when he hears the train.

When Kirk and Varla are looking for Linda near the end, Kirk explained "Young girl was trying to make the platform of a moving train. She was late. My father tried to help her. They both fell. He did something to his spine. The girl caught the next train."

I guess that pissed him off.

The birth did kill the mother, and that has nothing to do with anything else as far as I can tell, except that it was probably the thing that started to twist the old man.

Faster, Pussycat! Kill! Kill! is one of the greatest movies of all time. It is one of the coolest, funniest, sexiest and most wildly entertaining rollercoaster rides you will ever take, and it's an experience that can never be forgotten.

I love love LOVE this film! It's great, mega-cool and very much ahead of its time! "Trash" becomes like a glorious word in the hands of Russ Meyer!
Best title ever, best DVD cover ever, Coolest film ever! I'm definetely born in the wrong decade!

Oh! I totally agree! It's a masterpiece, and one of my all time favorites...couldn't live without it, I mean it has that effect of getting me out of any negative mood, any time. (Especially after seeing a new, over-hyped, badly written and/or directed blockbuster. I go home, watch it, laugh, and it makes me happy again.) Wooo!
