Spice World: Hard Day's Night of the 90s?

They are so similar. Spice World is pretty much this movie with women. I wish they could have been more original. Of course the Beatles are the ones that are going to be remembered.

reply

I agree. Though, Spice World is actually pretty good. But this movie is an automatic classic.

I was literally thinking the same thing when I was watching Hard Day's Night today!

reply

No, because Spice Girls is a guilty pleasure. I would not be ashamed to say I enjoyed A Hard Day's Night. Finally...Why would you compare The Beatles to Spice Girls?

Yeah, I liked Spice World because it was done in the spirit of A Hard Day's Night. Spice World is also a guilty pleasure for me and cheers me up when I am feeling down.

The thing is, a movie actually has to be good before it can be called the "Hard Day's Night" of its particular decade.

I don't think the Spice Girls ever tried to disguise the fact that this film was a template for their one.🐭

The Beatles: still influential and popular 45 years later, due to the songwriting powerhouse duo that is Lennon and McCartney, and the musical and recording talent of the Beatles as a whole. The Spice Girls: a manufactured pop group chosen for looks, not talent, forgotten already.

reply

The Beatles are a legendary band. Though, I think the Spice Girls is a good girl group.

reply

Spice World WAS this movie with women in it, and a plot, which AHDN didn't really have.

reply

A Hard Day's Night did have a plot. The Beatles were trying to break free from all the restrictions their road managers put on them, and to keep Paul's grandfather out of trouble. It's called telling a story, and there's nothing wrong with having a character who was Paul's grandfather. There have to be other charactets involved, not just the four main ones. Spice World's plot was idiotic and outlandish. So it had women in it - women who couldn't act or sing.

reply

Forty years from now, will anyone be comparing any of their current movies to SPICE WORLD?

Who knows, or can know? But at least Spice World did have a plot, and didn't have to resort to casting somebody as 'Mel's grandmother' to make it work.

reply

I recall George stating in the 90's the only good thing about the Spice Girls was " you can watch them with the sound turned off". When I read that I instantly thought, OMG the Quiet Beatle has turned into a dirty old man!

reply

Funny thing, people back in the '60's probably said the same thing about the Beatles.

It is likely women of all ages saw the Fab Four as eye candy back then.

reply

It got rave reviews when it came out the 60's.
