Admit it. We all did it.

At some point in our lives, we have called this title "To Kill A Mockingjay" and then felt really stupid about it. Please don't tell me I'm the only one

I thought I was the only one that did this.

No, but sometimes I'd think, "Mama's Going to Kill You a Mockingbird" instead of Mama (or Papa) is going to buy you a mockingbird.

Afraid I'm way too old to have done that.

what the heck is a mockingjay ?

I'm nearly 50 so I wouldn't have called it that, but do know where the OP gets the idea. I saw one of the Hunger Games movies, and the main character has a pin with a Mockingjay on it. If I can remember correctly, at one point she utilizes the Mockingjay's ability to mimic back sound to help her along her journey, although I don't remember exactly how. I think there might be a novel in that series titled Mockingjay, but I'm not sure.

I wouldn't laugh at a young person today who inadvertently called this film/novel To Kill a Mockingjay. If I were young and reading those novels and seeing those films I might accidentally do the same.

Not me!

Never really heard of a bird called a mockingjay, so, NO.

The OP is just obsessed over The Hunger Games and thinks everyone else is too.
Poor thing probably doesn't realize there is no such thing as a mockingjay.

reply

Uh not really, I heard about To Kill A Mockingbird way before The Hunger Games...
