Conservative solutions for the impotent Peck caracter

Boo Hardley saves the day by shoving a knife into the predator. Boo with the intelligence of the average republican eliminates the problem, ( simple problem, simple solution, no matter how gruesome). Then the other conservative, the Yorick like sheriff prevents the impotent fumbling Atticus from wrecking Boo's simple existence by proceding with typical liberal legal malarky which would have destroyed hero Boo. Liberals love Atticus and this movie, (and so do I, and the movie) but only conservatives save the day. I never thought of this before, any comments? Don't forget, Atticus could not protect his children, Boo could.

reply

Conservatives in this country are growing more and more insane as each day passes.

reply

Taking a wild guess that you're a liberal, or some other kind of leftist, I'm not in the least surprised that you should arrive at such an assessment.

reply

You shouldn't be surprised. All you have to do is look at the things conservatives say these days. It's obvious they've gone insane.

reply

Well, to tell the truth -- I'm not surprised. This realization, however, is arrived at in the same spirit as JFK telling a reporter who told him that Republicans had concluded he was doing a bad job as president, that he (Kennedy) figured the conclusion had probably been arrived at unanimously.

reply

Atticus isn't political. He is the embodiment of genuine Christianity. He takes care of orphans and prisoners. he prays for his enemies.

reply

Yes, you're probably right. It's possible, and probably inevitable, however, that one can be both genuinely Christian and political.

Judging from your posts here and elsewhere, it seems your position on just about everything is -- You don't agree with me(?), you need professional help. Personally, I think people who resort to such ad hominems do so because the extent of their reasoning power doesn't go beyond - do I want a small or medium size fry at McDonald's.

Life's pretty good for me 'bout now. How's 'bout you?

If it's "better than television" . . . why doesn't it pay the same?! 

Hey, why not "charlottefosterkane"?

I don't know about average Republicans, or which party you may be affiliated with; but I'm assuming yours takes no pride in simple education.

It's Radley, not Hardley. Put a hyphen between "Yorick" and "like." It's proceeding, not proceding. I'm not a liberal and I love Atticus. Boo Radley had a mental problem, the extent of which the reader never gets.

Atticus protected his children from small-mindedness, racism, hatred, inequality, rabid dogs, immorality, injustice, and narrow thinking. He was a hero.

If you want to talk politics, say so. If you want to discuss the book or movie, then do that.

reply

You don't protect your children from small-mindedness and racism....you teach them about it.....he protected his children from rabid dogs only after being chastised by local law enforcement to take up arms......the most serious and obvious threat to his children was the one to which he was most oblivious....fortunately Hardley(someone Atticus hadn't taught his children about) saved them while he sat at home doing...whatever. Pardon my grammar but my parents couldn't afford private schools, only the local teacher union pros... and you are a liberal which is no problem for me but why pretend(your insulting style gave you away).....and finally, I can ask any question I please as long as it is in good taste, so deal with it without the rancor. Oh, BTW, no parent is going to let Bob Hartley sit alone with his children in the bedroom right after he knifed somebody--or would you?? Again remiss parenting by Atticus......I think I would be safer with the local constable as a parent, though I'm sure you consider him dumb and provincial. Keep in touch.

reply

Arthur "Boo" Radley.

The "conservative solution" for Atticus would have been to let the mob lynch Tom Robinson.

Problem solved.

. . . Except the Democrats had a corner on that market.

reply

There are plenty of things that conservatives and liberals agree on and most people aren't really members of each on of these camps consistently in their own personal ethical fiber.

Let the political rhetoric go and you'll see that people have nothing to gain with such labels around them.
