COLORIZE!

reply

"It May Look Like A Walnut" from Season 2.

reply

Agreed!

The Christmas episode.

reply

My very favorite DvD episode. Yes, please!

reply

NONE, thank you. The series BELONGS in black-and-white...you know, how it was
FILMED? We don't apply computerized Crayollas to Chaplin, Keaton or The Marx
Brothers, so there's no need to tamper with perfection HERE. And anyway,
Carl Reiner, the genius who created the series, wants it left as is. It's
called respect. And taste.

Get it?

From what I've seen, colorizing isn't good enough for me to care about it anymore. The blu-ray looks great enough.

reply

Agreed. I've seen enough colorized films to notice that too often they skip colorizing parts of it. Backgrounds that should perhaps be beige or tan are left in shades of gray. They colorize skin, clothing, grass, trees, etc. but seem to skip everything else, such as buildings or roads. And who decides the colors? Is there some computer program that analyzes the shades of gray to determine that this particular intensity equals green and that one equals yellow?

reply

As a general rule, I hate colorized episodes! (yuck, it's messing with the original vision of the show) But I would be curious to see Laura's gown in "I'm No Henry Walden". She looked so great in that dress. I's like to see the color version of it.

reply

I couldn't remember what she wore so I had to go check that episode. Yes, she did look great in that gown. Of course, she looked great in everything! I've looked for color photos of the series but they seem to be hard to come by (or I'm not looking in the right places). All I find are "colorized" ones and they don't count.

reply

I don't think colorizing is necessary. I'm more than content to watch it in B&W. Although I've always wanted to see Buck Brown's apricot bows...

reply

LOL Buck Brown was such a funny character! Do you have the DVD with that episode? Gary Marshall who wrote it with his writing partner Jerry Belson, does a commentary for 'Babyfat'. It's one of the best commentaries that I have ever heard. I could've listened to Gary Marshall for hours.

reply

Yes, I have all of them. I actually enjoyed the Dick Van Dyke & Carl Reiner commentary more, but Marshall was interesting.

Now that I think about it, in addition to Buck Brown's apricot bows, I'm also curious about the lavender lollipops.
