Contains one of the best lines in a Western ever...

(I think i got this right, or pretty close)

Yul to Rob Vaughn: I heard you were looking for the Johnson brothers... What happened?

Rob Vaughn reply: I found them.

My favourite line isn't even really spoken. Just after the Boot Hill scene where the salesman asks Chris where he's from.

He gesticulates with his thumb behind him, and the salesman continues 'where are you going' and Chris points ahead of him with his finger.

Proof that a script doesn't have to say a lot to still be great.

"Never rode shotgun on a hearse before".

My favorite line all time is Robert Duval to John Wayne in the original True Grit - "I call that bold talk for a one-eyed fat man".

"We'd better get back, 'cause it'll be dark soon, and they mostly come at night... mostly"

reply

My favourite line:

Vin: It's like a fellow I once knew in El Paso. One day, he just took all his clothes off and jumped in a mess of cactus. I asked him that same question, "Why?"

Calvera: And?

Vin: He said, "It seemed to be a good idea at the time."

Followed by the actual best line, ever:

"Fill your hand you sunovabitch!"

reply

The Wild Bunch.
Pike: "Let's go."
Lyle: "Why not."

reply

Eli Wallach from TGTBaTU shooting his attacker from the bathtub, "When its time to shoot, shoot don't talk".

"Irwin, we're gonna' have to kill him"!

reply

Calvera: I should have guessed. When my men didn't come back I should have guessed. How many of you did they hire?

Chris: Enough!

Escape from New York

Almost everyone he meets in film: "I know you... Snake Plisskin. I heard you were DEAD!!!"

reply

"You get elected?"
"No, but I got nominated real good."

Old thread, but I have to answer.

TMS is one of my favorite movies of all time, and I love all of the quotes here and more, but twenty-five years after first seeing this movie, my brother and I still say...

"Muchas gracias."
"You don't happen to have a grateful older sister at home?"
"No, Senor - muchas gracias."

reply

You're like the wind...blowing over the land and passing on.....
¡Vayan con Dios !......Adios !

reply

Yes. That whole speech from the old man. Poetic, and summing up the whole film and the gunfighters situation perfectly.

Ooops. Wrong guy.

What's my name?
Bernardo!
You're Damn Right.

Tip of the hat? You'd think we'd have read about it somewhere via Gilligan. I googled it, no mention anywhere except by someone questioning it like me.
