I get it that she is sexy and plays the innocence perfectly. Her curves are nice, but in this film, particularly when she is singing on the train, I was not attracted at all to her pot belly! Maybe it was just the dress but it looked bad.
Yes Marilyn was a little heavier than normal in 'Some Like It Hot' but this was due to the fact that she was pregnant during filming and sadly miscarried shortly after filming finished.
I personally thinked she looked gorgeous with her little belly :)
Her curves are what made her famous, so her stomach at this stage (being pregnant, as lorrie152 quite rightly said) shouldn't be much different to how it is in her other movies. She never looked as thin as Jayne Mansfield's stomach, in which you could see her rib cage in a lot of her modelling shots. I'm not sure of measurements or anything like that, but I personally don't see any difference. Marilyn looks absolutely gorgeous in Some Like It Hot, extra curves an' all!
Marilyn Monroe: I don't want to be rich. I just want to be wonderful.
To me it did not look like a 'pregnancy' belly - she seems just heavy all over -not that she's unattractive, but looks like she gained about 50 lbs overall.
The dress she's wearing on the yacht - talk about strategically placed sparkles!! Wow!
It's almost sacrilegious to make negative comments about this - after all, we're talking about Marilyn Monroe, and Orry-Kelly's costumes won an Oscar, but as I watched this last night, for maybe the first time I couldn't help noticing that during the "I Wanna Be Loved By You" and subsequent 'seduction' scene, Monroe's breasts were actually pendulous and drooping (was she running in the scene where a transparent strap is visible across her back, perhaps to keep them from juggling all over the place? Not sure.).
"Remind me to tell you about the time I looked into the heart of an artichoke."
ON the commentary for the film one of the guys talks about her breasts in this film look the way a woman who is pregnant should look and the other guys said Oh really and he said believe me I know I've been through it 6 times. He of course was meaning his wife when she was pregnant but they made jokes in the commentary about it being him that experienced it personally.
I just thinks it's silly to even comment on her body in this movie since she's pregnant. I wouldn't say, her curves looks great, or she looks chubby and I should hope she had some what of a pot belly, since you know, that's where the baby is growing and all.
Oh man, it is a sad statement about where we are as a people when Marilyn Monroe is considered "chubby!" Why do you guys want your girls looking like holocaust survivors anyway? Even pregnant, Marilyn Monroe is unbelievably sexy.
