Man rescuing a woman?

Just a friendly reminder to anyone upset that Sleeping Beauty features a woman being saved by a man: Prince Phillip would not have been able to rescue Aurora if Phillip had not himself been rescued by Flora, Fauna, and Merryweather (all female). They freed Phillip and his horse from their chains, they gave him his weapon and armor, they protected him from falling boulders and flying arrows during his escape, and they enchanted his sword to kill Maleficent.

Please don't feed the trolls.

People that are anal about that kind of superficial crap are dumb as a bag of hammers and don't need to be listened to.

...that being said, this movie still sucks for reason waaaaay beyond that.

I personally long for the days of men rescuing women in Disney movies. Lately the male characters have been arrogant, and quite rude. There is no more romance, or chivalry. It's become bantering between the male and female character and then BOOM, they love each other. It's weird.

So true. The females have certainly gotten stronger but like you said the males have are now rude and arrogant. Of course feminists don't care because only the women matter according to feminists. That's what bothers me about certain feminists, the only see Disney movies through a female point of view & act like only females are effected by Disney films and they don't think men are effected by Disney movies. Men can be effected too. I think certain feminists also forget men are people too & have feelings as well.

Snow White, Aurora, and Cinderella are from a different Disney era.
There's good and bad there, but most of it is good.

I actually think Tangled is the most messed up Disney film of all time.
Rapunzel is supposed to be a modern princess, but after being imprisoned for years she falls for Flynn Ryder (literally the first guy she sees) and he actively works to scare her into returning to her prison...and gives her crown to the bad guys. I don't care how "selfless" he becomes later in the story. He's the bottom of the shit barrel.
I think even Snow White would have the sense to pick Grumpy or one of the Dwarfs over Flynn Ryder.

"and he actively works to scare her into returning to her prison"

What the freak are you talking about? He doesn't even know what the deal is until later.

What's wrong with a brave, kind, heroic, honorable man rescuing the woman he loves?

reply

Absolutely nothing!

I just agree with someone above, who said it'd be nice to see other sorts of persons rescuing persons. A man rescuing a hot woman isn't the only thing that can happen in perilous situations, but it happens in just about every film.
