Walter Brennan

What a performance! He was really funny.

I have to admit, I really don't like Walter Brennan, because he's always Walter Brennan - a weirdo, a character - and always with that same obnoxious voice that I also dislike.

But I really liked him here. Here, they needed "a Walter Brennan character", and Walter Brennan delivered - himself.

I want the doctor to take your picture so I can look at you from inside as well.

I usually like Walter Brennan, but his character in this film was an-noy-ing.

I did appreciate the scene though where he took a shot at the Dude because he didn't recognize him. At first, it seems like a cheap laugh. Then the character annoyingly repeats himself time and again. Then the Dude dramatically tells him to be quiet. It goes from a joke that isn't funny, to annoying banter, to a sincerely dramatic moment when the Dude realizes just how much he's changed in the past two years. Good direction and acting in that scene.

I also like how he came to the rescue in the end after being told to stay back at the jail.

One of my favorites from many of his great ones. (Three Oscars). One of the funniest moments is towards the end of the movie when all the shooting is done and over and Wayne walks out of the Sherriff's office and Duke and Stumpy joke about Wayne "getting hisself a girl" and Stumpy pushes back the brim of his hat and talks in a deep voice imitating Wayne being gruff. Classic.

It looked like the cast had a good time together.
