Coincidence

“Are you going to let that... “thing” run your life?!”

One of the top episodes! I thought it was a great message about controlling your own life and not letting superstition and all that implies rule it.

Definitely one of the best episodes, if only to see William Shatner in his 20s!

The story doesn't conclusively say one way or the other whether that *particular* napkin dispenser machine out of the half dozen or more installed in the restaurant is actually telling the future, but it most certainly seems to.

For instance, the second couple who are stuck in town not only believe the machine is telling the future, they go the same exact machine Patsy and Don do - not any other in the restaurant. Could it be mere coincidence that two couples not only believe a machine can tell the future but happen to believe it's the same machine? Sure, but it seems that that particular machine is special, and it's not just telling the future, but also appears to enjoy screwing with them as well.

This is a creepy episode, and for me, it's one of those episodes that are eminently rewatchable a dozen or more times even after the twist is known. One of my favorites.

Great episode.

It is a great episode. Just goes to show you that you can't place your future in the hands of fortune tellers, tarot cards, or horoscopes. Those things only tell you what you want to hear. Their answers are vague enough that you could apply them to any situation.

It's not just one of the best episodes; it's the best
