Was Laramie the Most Dull and Depressing 1950s Western ever???

I liked the first couple of episodes of Laramie. Then the more Hoagy Carmichael talked, the more dull and depressing the episodes got.

The little kid was downright weird, and it seemed odd to have a young kid living in a way station, when he could live in town and go to school. At the way station, the kid was mostly a nuisance.

John Smith has a very blah personality, and is duller than a wooden post. Robert Fuller only seems to be around half the time, which I thought was odd. They were better toghether, and yet the show seemed to want to do like MAVERICK, and have only one star for most or all of an episode.

Most of the shows end in some death or negative result. Laramie is more depressing than the early years of Gunsmoke. I made the mistake of buying the whole series, and about half way through the first year, I gave up on the show.

I've been watching it on GritTV and I find it interesting and not at all depressing. But that's me.

I think that Fuller and Smith had great chemistry and in my opinion this was a great 1960's western.

Think it's mostly much better overall than Gunsmoke. Better written and not depressing at all. Gunsmoke is much more the bleak downer with senseless deaths. Maybe the negative reviewer brings his own cloud with him. It isn't really reflected in the show's values.

Laramie was one of the 15 best western tv series of all time. Robert Crawford's role as Andy was nothing short of superb. Slim was so square that balancing him with the street wise Jess worked out perfect. The other kid was just average. Carmichael did nothing to take away from the GREATNESS of this show that ranks in my top 10,although he was included a bit too much. But that's OK because that usually meant more Andy. Jess was the real star. He made the show go. Most westerns are so unreal because they don't include childern. Shows like Gunsmoke,Bonanza,Have gun will travel,and so far. Look around kids are everywhere

I find it to be interesting. Jess is very charismatic and he and slim are good hero's. I feel like it usually ends on a positive note and I like the writing

True, Smith was a dreadful actor. But the show was well written and had some great guest appearances.
Except for the great Steve McQueen, Wanted Dead Or Alive was crap. Even Steve said it was a meaningless pile of putrid shjt.

Hoagy is what made the show even better than it was.Jonesy was the best.

Smith and Fuller had some of the best chemistry I've ever seen from two male co-stars on TV, not to mention that they were both hot as *beep* I loved the entire run, but the color episodes do add a vibrancy that was lacking in the first couple of seasons. I loved the Daisy/Mike episodes with their cutesy but adorable endings.

I love Laramie.

The cast from the last two years are my favorite. Robert Fuller & John Smith were great together. Wonderful interactions.

The show always had a positive ending. I also think that there was a positive message to the show about right and wrong.

Not boring or depressing at all in my opinion.

It is to me one of the best, if not the best tv western ever made.
