What's all the fuss over Hetson playing a Mexican?

Could it be that you are the ignorant sort that believe that Hispanics are an actual race? And that they must stereotypically look like Pancho Villa or somebody to be authentic? Well, you are seriously misinformed. There are people in Mexico who look like Heston. There are even Blondes with blue eyes. Don't forget, some Mexicans are of pure Spanish descent, Spain which is in Europe, by the way.

1. People today literally look for things to be "offended" about. Their is so little of any actual substance or meaning in their own lives, that they have to get "outraged", at, say, Steve Martin doing a King Tut skit on SNL in the 70s. It's pathetic, and utterly pointless.

2. People love to forget that the point of ACTING, is to pretend to be people you are not. It is one thing to say "oh you shouldn't do blackface". But for a white guy to play a Mexican? Who cares. Besides that, the same people that get "outraged" over white actors playing non-white roles, don't care a single bit about non-white actors in non-white countries, playing roles that don't fit their own look/race precisely.

3. People also seem to be oblivious to the fact that Mexico has a sizeable population of "white" Spanish citizens, who have zero native Mexican ancestry. There are Mexicans who are blonde and blue eyed, just like there are blonde and blue eyed (pale skinned) Spaniards. Just ask Guillermo Del Toro.

How about Eli Wallach as a Mexican bandit in Magnificent 7?

In that same film a German actor(Horst Buchholz) also plays a Mexican.

It is not about race Mexican is not a race. The rules are the same for all roles. Believability. Authenticity. I thought Heston was mediocre in the role.
