Is Not Paul Newman good looking in this film?
For some reason the woman liked Elvis-style more than Paul in those days...

Paul Newman is amazingly hot in that movie!! :D Definitly the hottest man back then! You can't say anything bad about him. He's just amazing, he's just the man.
Peace in the world everybody :)
You must remember this. A kiss is still a kiss. A sigh is just a sigh. The fundamental things apply. As time goes by. And when two lovers woo, they still say, "I love you". On that you can rely. No matter what the future brings....
It's in the last scene where he is standing up on the stairs, he turns and he looks down, and he is absolutely great-looking! This scene is so powerful! Totally great man.
I think Paul Newman is good looking in just about all of his films.
shareHe looks gorgeous!! What a great film, Elizabeth Taylor is excellent as Maggie.
Check out her out in more Tennessee Williams-"Suddenly last Summer". Katharine Hepburn is marvellous as ever, but Liz Taylor is really good...
"We've got a piper down, I repeat, the piper is DOWN!"

I'm telling you, I know people are are hatin on Paul Newman but he was THE man! (Yes, he still is although he's getting up there) but wow, he was HOT when he was young...yeah I definately agree with you. You should see how he looks in "Cool Hand Luke"-there are no words. Everyone check that movie out-he is brilliant and hot; what more could you want?? LOl.
shareI can't decide if it was the eyes...the bare chest...or the scene where Liz buries her head in his chest crying and he instinctively moves to envelope her in a hug and then pushes her away and locks himself in the bathroom....or all of the above....the man is just plain GORGEOUS!!!!
share"he instinctively moves to envelope her in a hug and then pushes her away and locks himself in the bathroom...."
That scene...AWESOME.
A good traveller has no fixed plans, and is not intent on arriving.
He is sooooooo gorgeous in this movie. My favorite of all time.
shareIn the interest of full disclosure, I'm a straight guy who doesn't really consider himself to be a full-fledged fan of Paul--I've liked him in most films, but I probably wouldn't go see/rent a movie just because he was in it (that's my unofficial definition of "fan"--someone who goes to see a movie with his/her object of affection in the cast despite having no other interest in watching).
Anyway, you'll probably all stone me to death or something, but occasionally I see a distinct parallel between the facial expressions (and even the bone structure, eyes, and sometimes even the hair) of the young Paul Newman versus Matthew McConaughey. If you like Matt, I guess you won't be mad at me--if not, then I'm steeling myself for the first stone cast.

I know lots of people think Matthew McConaughey is really good looking but I just don’t get it. He’s okay, I suppose, but he doesn’t even come close to Paul Newman’s good looks. Paul Newman is one of the most gorgeous men in the world and he's right at the top of the list. Have you seen him in Cat on a Hot Tin Roof or Hud? Words can't describe how good he looked back then.
sharePaul was absolutely gorgeous when he was young. And he still looks good for his age. Lol, to think he's old enough now to be my grandfather... but yeah, he looked stunning.
...and we will walk through the fire!

Yeah, Paul was an absolute hottie in this film, among many others. And his acting was excellent. Did he get an academy award for this film? He should have.
shareNo, he did not receive an Academy Award for this movie. He did, however, receive a nomination. In fact, Paul Newman received six such nominations before actually winning the award on his seventh nomination (for "The Color of Money"). Since then he's received one more Academy Award nomination but no more awards.
His nominations (and one win) were for:
Cat on a Hot Tin Roof
The Hustler
Hud
Cool Hand Luke
Absence of Malice
The Verdict
The Color of Money (won the award)
Nobody's Fool
The Road to Perdition (supporting)
Seems a crime to me that he didn't win more...
Is it just me, or doesn't those blue eyes blow you away?
I think that's definitely what makes him so appealing...
O' his blue eyes definalty blow you away. Hes also very HOT in this and in everything else too.
"I'm gonna make him an offer he can't refuse." Don Vito Corleone, The Godfather
Those eyes are AMAZING!!!
shareHe should have won for "Cat" or "Cool Hand", not "The Color of Money". God, that annoys me. The Oscars are always screwing over actors like that.

The list of films that Mary put up is really something. One could easily justify the Oscar for any of these films, perhaps "The Color of Money" being the least of them. Personally I think that Oscar was given to essentially make up for the other should-have-beens. I wonder how much Newman cares about such things, though.
