12 angry (white) men and no women

"12 Angry Men" is a good and catchy title, compared to, e.g. "7 Angry Men And 5 Angry Women, 2 Of Them Being Black".

I'm sure women were allowed and minorities might have voted less often. That is how jury selection is done in the US. Names picked at random from voting records, then they narrow the pool down to 12.

Maybe the defense or prosecution thought 12 men would be more advantageous towards getting a certain verdict.

If they called it 12 Angry Men, and put a woman in it, it would just sound stupid. If they changed the title and called it 12 Angry People, it would just sound stupid.

Interesting, I just read an article in the New York TImes today, talking about a 90 year old man who's worked as the jury summoner in New York City for the past 45 years.THe article noted that until relatively recently, a woman could claim an exemption from jury duty simply by being a woman.
