I wasn't sure, at first, that I liked it, until she smiled. That radiant face became as buoyant as the hair, and suddenly looked utterly enchanting. I felt it was somewhat symbolic for her, not only to shed the ultra-royal, ultra-proper style that she always wore (as did most women, with their hair always in an updo, except for when they went to bed at night when they wore it loose or braided it). Plus, the sudden removal of all that weight of her hair made her feel lighter and perkier. If you think about how much her teensy neck has been supporting, from hair pieces, crowns, hats, earrings, and long, heavy hair, it must have felt unbelievably refreshing to her. And she looked adorable -- same type as Dorothy Hamill with her fresh face and wedge hairdo that looked so light and responsive to her movements on the ice.
Life is a banquet, and most poor suckers are starving to death!
