Is this better than the Keanu Reeves's remake???

Just wonder because I haven't watched it yet, and I didn't like the remake at all.

Despite the cheesy special-effects, this movie had all the heart and emotion that the newer film lacked. And the mother had a son who was the same ethnic group as her!

Its value is mostly historical. It is not a compelling movie, but it has a certain something because of its age and historic popularity. I think it is better simply because the remake was pointless and bad. It's a good question because I am not sure today's audiences with really like it. I remember I saw it as a kid and did not think much of it until I learned later what a classic it was - which made me see it in a different light. I would not try to predict if you would like it or not.

For me, I like the old movies better. I like "The Thing From Another World" better than the remakes, although the last one was not bad, I think it was 2011? Or "Forbidden Planet" which has not been remade, but which is a great story. They've been saying someone was going to remake "Forbidden Planet" for decades now and they have not. I am unsure if that is a good thing or bad thing because I am sure they'd botch it up.
