Overrated propaganda film

Cagney needs to be the bad guy, seeing him sing and dance here makes me want to puke. Why is this film so popular? I don't get it.

Cagney was considered sort of pinko back in the day, so his brother/manager snagged this movie for him. He loved the song and dance man part of it -- those were his roots -- and it rehabilitated his image.
