This movie is a good psychological case study in group think.
Any filmmaker who knows what they're talking about knows, structurally, this movie fails. The execution and dialogue are dated, wooden and occasionally ridiculous. It's a fact that the art of filmmaking and the audience have evolved since then. Nobody in their right mind would make a movie like this nowadays. There's no way in hell anyone can argue this. It might have been good for it's time. Fine. Let's move on. Take this crap off of IMDB top 250 where it sure as hell does NOT belong and let's MOVE ON!
Your post is so idiotic it doesn't deserve a response. I won't go in depth, because you don't deserve that much. I will say that if you're some wannabe screenwriter or something as you say, you have a terrible attitude. Even if you have connections in the business, it's unlikely someone with such poor taste and judgment is going to make it anywhere in the film business.
I could take you to school regarding the structure, dialogue, and character development, but it wouldn't serve you any good because you obviously know all there is to know about filmmaking. Someone who rates "Breakfast at Tiffany's" a 1/10 obviously has some petty cognitive bias. So, you don't like "Breakfast at Tiffany's"? That doesn't make it a 1/10. You seem to say, "I don't like it. Therefore, I'm not going to consider any aspects of the film, e.g., acting, character arcs, plot, structure, I'm going to make a point of down voting this film to the extreme."
You obviously have an axe to grind. As far as I'm concerned, you and people like you, who deliberately down-vote good films just because they don't like them, or cannot get into them, shouldn't be counted in the voting process. You are dishonest, albeit perhaps unknowingly. I can hardly think of any movies I would vote a 3/10 or lower. They would have to be terrible. Even the newest "Scream" movie, terrible as it is, deserves at least a 3/10 for some aspects of originality. Maybe I'm being too rational about this voting thing.
You aren't being to rational about the voting thing at all. I love B movies and I love some really horrible movies. But, I don't give them 10's usually, because I know they are horrible and the film making isn't there. If I rated movies based on how much I liked them then there are a whole lot of movies that I would rate a 1 just because I didn't like the movie. I can't think of any off the top of my head, because well I last about 20 minutes and I am out of there. Still I don't come to the boards to complain and give the movie a low rating because I wasn't personally entertained.
Those of us who were on the planet prior to the reign of the Hillbilly Horndog lived in a different country and probably should simply accept that people of more recent vintage (at least Americans) have been indoctrinated by the educational system, the media cabal and entertainment industry and will likely never "get it."
No amount of rational and logical argument will ever make a difference to this population. The are right because they simply know they are right. Anything or anyone that challenges their worldview in the slightest must be at least ridiculed or preferably destroyed. Critical thinking and self-reliance have been replaced by the regurgitation of post-modernist claptrap and social conditioning that mandates "safe spaces" and reliance on authoritarian crushing of "micro-agressions" and "trigger warnings." Yet, strangely a video work is often deemed lacking if a certain number of vampires, werewolves and zombies are not included.
Enjoy WWII films while you can. The war would have been lost quickly if the clods who complain about films such as Casablanca had been in charge at the time. Rick Blaine would have cowered in his office fearful of triggers such as "As Time Goes By" being played. Sam would create #blackpianoplayersmatter and go on strike for a "living piano playing wage." Renault would have been doing 30 to life for sexual harassment. Even Ferrari would be under siege barred from serving drinks over a certain size lest Berger the Norwegian blow up to his girth. Although that would be a fitting penalty for his white privilege and displaying a religious symbol in public.
Your original post gave me a pretty good chuckle. It was some passing fair bait, and I congratulate you for getting so many people on your hook (including me, it would seem). Now I think I'll go back to watching my movie (yes, it is what you think it is) and completely forget about your existence. And if by some slim chance you're not just another 14-year-old troll, I hope you go on hating Casablanca with a white-hot intensity that burns a hole in your mind, body and soul until it destroys you, inside and out, and you end up in a nuthouse raving and sobbing about movies you don't like and confused about why other people won't just stop liking movies you don't like, and then die angry and alone. Have a nice day!
