How old are you?

I was just wondering after a discussion with a friend what is the average age of people who have seen and like this film? I'm 24 and like this film, but must admit I found it harder to get into than other Hitchcock films, I'm not sure if it was the age or not... I've seen Notorious and Strangers on a Train and had no problem with those. I just wondered if the people on this board who like this film are made up of silver surfers or younger people like me who can appreciate a good movie regardless of age?

I'm 18. This is a nice Hitchcok film, but my favorites are (off the top of my head) Rope, North by Northwest, The Birds, Psycho... Strangers on a Train is really good too, my 10 year old sister loved it. Vertigo too, 'cause Jimmy Stewart rules.
I'm wasn't too crazy about Topaz, though.

I am 17, and I love this film. Not quite in my top 5 of my favourite Hitchcocks but definitely in my top 10.

I'm 24, and it was a decent movie. It took me a bit to get used to it, because it's not only the earliest Hitchcock movie that I've seen, it's the oldest movie that I've seen, period. I ended up getting more into it as it went along, and by the end I was enjoying myself.

I'm 18 and I just saw it for the first time last night and liked it a lot. It had a few cheesy/over dramatic moments, which is probably what turns younger people off old films more than the black and white. For example a lot of people in the theatre, including me were laughing when the spy lady got stabbed because it can't help but look ridiculous to a modern audience, whereas, I assume, it wouldn't have looked comical at the time it was made.

Off the top of my head, my favourite Hitchcock films are The Trouble With Harry, The Lady Vanishes, Rope and Lifeboat, all on the older side, which I greatly prefer over some of his better known works like Psycho, Vertigo and The Birds.

Incidentally, I've also recently watched and enjoyed another of Hitchcock's old films, The Lodger, which my 56 year old mother refused to watch because it was silent. So clearly age isn't always a deciding factor in whether or not one likes an old movie.

I'm 23 and just saw it this afternoon. I have to say I really loved it, and it was amazing. I haven't seen too many Hitchcock movies, but I'm having sort of an impromptu Hitchcock film fest today courtesy of Netflix. I watched The 39 Steps and Young and Innocent, which were both great! I'm getting ready to watch The Lady Vanishes right now.

The only other Hitchcock films I've seen are Psycho and Dial M for Murder (the last of which I don't really remember much about). Sadly, I haven't seen any of his more popular movies because I don't subscribe to Netflix DVDs and the Blockbuster in our town closed :(

It's heartening to know that a lot of younger people like these movies. Unfortunately I also know several people who hate watching old movies, especially black and whites. Personally, older films are my favorite!

I haven't as yet read any other postings, apart of course this first one of yours, but just wanted to say that I don't think age really comes into it because I have always loved the old B&W films.
Naturally, there are some truly brilliant later day coloured films but I prefer to watch old the old movies!!
