Worst James Bond film

I think I would go with Diamonds are Forever. A truly awful movie. Plus Bond wearing a pink tie?

reply

No way, Mr. Wint and Mr. Kidd are too unique.
I'd go with Die Another Day, starting with its totally forgettable title song...

reply

Wint and Kidd were awesome! πŸ˜€

reply

crazy thing is I saw that movie when I was 8 years old and thought the song was awesome

Yes, great additions to the Bond catalogue of villains.

I think the worst Bond films are the most boring ones - Quantum of Solace and The World Is Not Enough.

Although I haven't seen the last two Craig efforts, so they could be worst I guess...

reply

But QoS has at least the adorable Olga Kurylenko in it...

reply

Quantum of Solace is worse.

I am saying it because of my personal opinion. I don't care what anyone else says about it good or bad. I'm a big fan of David Zaritsky's channel on YT, and he has a high regard for it, I respect his opinion but doesn't mean I have to share it or even understand it.
Doesn't make me an "NPC" either. Great you like QOS, good for you. You need to learn to accept differing opinions. The irony of your post, is you call these common criticisms "juvenile hangups". The only thing juvenile is not being able to accept someone's critical opinion without having to undermine it. There is no "right or wrong" when it comes to film criticism either. lol

The last James Bond movie where they killed off Daniel Craig and put that black chick in it they hinted as the next 007.

reply

Yeah I haven't watched that one yet, will probably skip it

reply

Don't bother. It's very weak.

reply

I don't know about the worst, but the biggest letdown for me was Spectre. I loved Craig as Bond and I was hoping for so much after Skyfall (one of my very favourites). πŸ™

reply

Diamonds Are Forever is the second worst. The worst is No Time To Die.

reply

The bottom 5:

Die Another Day
Live and Let Die
A View to a Kill
Quantum of Solace
The Living Daylights

reply

According to the sorta app, my bottom five are from best to worst:

Die Another Day
The Man with the Golden Gun
Tomorrow Never Dies
No Time to Die
Quantum of Solace

Any Bond movie made after Moonraker is in the discussion.

reply

For Your Eyes Only (1981) and Goldeneye (1995) are both highly regarded by most, as well as a few of the Craig era. I also fully appreciate the two of Timothy Dalton. Not sure how you reached the conclusion of a post-Moonraker bottoming out.

Worst for me is A View To A Kill or Die Another Day. They both had potential to be fine, but were ultimately so flawed as to be insulting. Dalton, and the tone he brings, may have saved AVTAK if he had been cast as initially planned.

reply

"by most"

I don't worry about what anyone else thinks.

To be fair, here's my opinion of everything after Moonraker:

FYEO is tolerable, but Moore looks so old in it already, it's difficult to take seriously.
Octopussy and View to a Kill are unwatchable they're so bad.
The Dalton Bond movies are ok, but they don't communicate fun the way the earlier Bond movies did.
I always thought Brosnan would make a great Bond, but his movies put me to sleep.
Daniel Craig had no fucking business ever even taking the role. I can't make it through any of his movies without falling asleep.

CGI Another Day will always be the worst. Even Never Say Never Again's better than that crap.

The CGI, the constant quips - "I think I got the thrust of it", "Yo Momma". Did Halle Berry have any dialogue that wasn't cringe worthy? Madonna's awful song and her pointless cameo.

Bond being released from capture after 14 months looking as though he'd been indulging in some nice food, Bond stopping his heart rate, the ice palace, the invisible car, Bond tsunami surfing, Michael Madsen...Christ it was awful.

I'm glad it was made though because it resulted in us getting Casino Royale. But it was the equivalent of enjoying a nice cuisine after being forced to munch on some shit first.

reply

I hated "Die Another Day" and anything with Daniel Craig in it.
