To young

I know I'm a year late but getting married at 19 is just crazy. I'm all up for marrying who ever you want but when it comes to age I cross the line I would never let my kid get married at 19 you are still trying to find the meaning of life and trust me being married gets boring like my parents they have been married for so long they are just tired of each other. All I'm trying to say is wait to you get a little old then think about if you want to go through with getting married

In the 1800s most women got married at ages 20-22, and the institution of marriage was much stronger then.

reply

That was the average age. A lot of them were married at a younger age.

reply

The average was 20-22, but age of consent varied between 10-16 and many married at 13 or 14.

I agree, that it's too young. However. That really only means it's too young for you or I. In the eyes of the law it's old enough. And I do think it's too young, but I'm also big on freedom of choice and as such wouldn't be in agreement with raising the age requirement. At 19, you don't really get to *let* them anymore. Gotta make their own mistakes. And for what it's worth, I'm in my late 30s, still single, thinking it's going to stay that way, which I'm mostly fine with. Gets lonely sometimes, but I have dogs, and I like my own time and space and routine. And I've known a number of friends who got married in their early 20s, often high school sweethearts. A few are divorced, and a few are still (seemingly) happily married.

Either way, if I ever get serious with anyone again, I know it'll be nice to not have the world watching and judging.

Well, they are not idiots, they engaged for more than a year, I am sure they lived together during the time, banging like rabbits.

If they can live a year together, still not breaking up, maybe there is hope in that marriage.

Though Millie Bobby Brown worshiped Amy Winehouse growing up, who took a lot of drugs.

Her husband was the son of rock star, so there is kind of a chance they end up in rehab together as well.

I noticed a lot of young people getting married these days. I don't think these new kids wanna spend their life banging strangers from bars. They just wanna get to living with someone comfortable.

reply

Getting married at any age is moronic, especially if you're a man. I almost got married at 21, but then I came to my senses.

reply

Agreed.

Should have gone wild to embrace and enjoy her youth.

Performed naked onscreen.

Leaked a sex tape.

Had a kid.

Then gotten married at 20. 😄

reply

Well, she was 20 but that's by-the-by. I just think she values the family unit - her parents have been together 30+ years, with her growing up with an extended age range of siblings, Jakes parents married young and are still together, so I just think it's something they wanted for themselves as well, and good luck to them. The real test will be when the babies arrive, which I don't think will be too far from now.
