According to what I've read, the amount she brought into the country is commensurate with the sentence she received.
Now, I also believe that under other circumstances, as a "celebrity", they would have tossed her and her weed out of the country, but she's also clearly being used for political gain at this point.

A few years ago, another American was caught carrying 19 grams and only spent 2 months in prison. Griner on the other hand was given a 10 year sentence for a couple vape carts.

That is true. Everything I've read says the amount she had in her possession was typically a fine and a couple of weeks in a Russian gulag - then probably deportation. The 9 years is about the importation of drugs, which they've been very consistent about when it comes to time in the pokey.
Why didn't Audrey Lorber get a 10 year sentence? She was arrested at a Russian airport a few years ago with 19 grams of weed and released after 2 months.

My whole point is Griner was used as a pawn because Russia is pissed off with our support towards Ukraine. She wasn't sentenced to ten years for a couple half used vape cartridges. If she was arrested for this a few years ago, she would have gotten a slap on the wrist, like Audrey Lorber did.
