Nice saying! βΊ...may use it on another occasion...ahem.
Followed your advice and did read the YT-comments.
Funny and informative!
Of course didn't read all of the more than 30,000 but this...:
SPOILER-SPOILER-SPOILER-SPOILER-SPOILER-SPOILER For any of you who haven't seen the incredible and hilarious game, yet may still be interested. Misha doesn't cry when he meets Karpov. He says good afternoon and greets him, and only cries when he loses the match after 10 minutes. The funniest part of the entire spectacle is, when the host asked if you are holding back and Karpov replied "I never hold back" and the host responded with "I was talking to Misha".
Means, little Misha was tough and has nerves of steel.
And even Russians do NOT traumatize their youngest and best talents. πβ
The quote is from the movie by guy ritchie called Snatch, its what jason statham said to describe this dangerous russian criminal.
I read that comment too and its still funny. Also the music and the health bar under Anatoly Karpov are from the game Dark Souls : )
Its complicated. She's being held for political reasons at this point. Yes, its illegal there, but the amount in her possession doesn't warrant this kind punishment.
According to what I've read, the amount she brought into the country is commensurate with the sentence she received.
Now, I also believe that under other circumstances, as a "celebrity", they would have tossed her and her weed out of the country, but she's also clearly being used for political gain at this point.
Yeah, it was a really bad time for an American to be caught with weed in Russia.
A few years ago, another American was caught carrying 19 grams and only spent 2 months in prison. Griner on the other hand was given a 10 year sentence for a couple vape carts.
Stop. You're embarrassing yourself. You may not trust it but that doesn't mean it's not a source. Since when is journalism not considered a source? π
This sentence appears to be in accordance with an established Russian penal code outlining criminal punishments for people found guilty of violating the nationβs cannabis circulation laws. The code states that a person convicted of such a crime βmay be sentenced to eight to twenty years of imprisonment, or even to a life sentence if the crime is committed on an especially large scale (for cannabis this means more than 10kg),β the international legal advisory service CMS observed in a recent article.
Maybe you should stop spreading fake news, yes?

Yes I certainly did and it seems you also did but failed to understand the words in it.
may be sentenced to eight to twenty years of imprisonment for violating the circulation laws oreven to a life sentence if the crime is committed on an especially large scale (for cannabis this means more than 10kg)
Let me guess, you skimmed it and saw the 10kg and thought
Ha gotcha
like a moron because you lack reading comprehension?

Define outside the norm. Everyone in this entire thread agreed the sentence was harsh, wtf have you even been posting for? Looks like Griner is coming home now anyway so you can dry your eyes finally.
And I would say the norm is exactly what lay within the law and sentencing guidelines and outside the norm is anything that lays beyond that. I would say that instead of whatever ridiculous vague definitions you're trying to hide your flawed argument behind. I would also say you're an insufferable faggot who just got intellectually dismantled and blocked.
I don't live in Russia and am not privy to anything beyond what's available on the web (maybe you are?), but I've read nothing that suggests that Griner was sentenced outside the typical Russian guidelines.
This is typical of what web searching brings:
The sentencing of WNBA star Brittney Griner to nine years behind bars and a fine of 1 million rubles β between US$10,000 and $20,000 depending on the exchange rate β should come as no surprise to those familiar with Russian law.
The country has long enforced strict drug laws and has a well-deserved reputation for zero-tolerance jurisdiction.
Indeed, the crime Griner was prosecuted of β smuggling narcotics in βsignificant amountβ in violation of Article 229ΒΉ(2)(c) of the Russian criminal code β carries a minimum sentence of five to 10 years βdeprivation of freedomβ along with the fine, and the upper end of the spectrum seems to be common. The prosecutor in Grinerβs case asked for 9 Β½ years and, presumably, the maximum fine. He got most of what he wanted.
If you've got something that says otherwise, then by all means correct me, but I believe this information from many sources is accurate.
I also maintain that if it were a different political climate, Griner would have been given a fine, a short sentence (possibly suspended) and unceremoniously tossed from Russia given her "celebrity" status.
We all get that her bringing that small amount of drugs into Russia was for her personal use and not to sell, and that her sentence by our standards is unusually (OK, ridiculously) harsh, but it still comes down to it being their house, their rules.
So empty vape cartridges that contained residue constitutes a significant amount?
No, I didn't say that (maybe someone else in this thread did but it wasn't me). I think what she had in her possession was not only an insignificant amount, but clearly was for personal use and not for distribution. But here's the thing - the amount she had on her would only be a fine and a few weeks for simple possession in Russia, but what the 9 years is all about is *importation* of the drug, not mere possession. I still think they're making an example out of her but that's a different discussion.
What I am saying however is that Russian law is very tough with regards to importation of drugs, and what Griner received for a sentence is not outside the guidelines for the amount she brought into Russia. In other words, agree with their laws or not, it's their house - their rules.
I will because I'm good at it. Such as this: Article 229ΒΉ(2)(c) of the Russian criminal code which the Russkies were good enough to write after I posted this to get my back. Those commie bastards are OK in my book.
Regarding your source, well, I guess you only read the headline... The only people who say the sentence is harsh by Russian standards are her lawyers {shock}. Your article also says that she would face fine and imprisonment if she was caught with the same amount in a U.S. national park, although not 9 years.
You have to admit that I make up shit that happens to come true. Now off to the convenience store to buy some lottery tickets.
If you've got something that says otherwise, then by all means correct me
Oh they've got something alright and I'm not sure you can handle it. They have, are you ready for this? They have a Reason.com article with a quote from Griner's defence! Ha take that!

Are you suggesting her lawyers (the only people who apparently think her sentence is harsh by Russian standards) would exaggerate? That seems quite unlikely so I guess that's a legitimate "got me" citation.
It doesn't matter what the amount is, she was charged with smuggling which is a 10 year penalty. If she wasnt so cheap and just paid a Russian drug dealer for her weed instead if smuggling it in herself she wouldnt be in this mess. She did the crime and now has to do the time. Being gay, black, and a famous libturded speaking piece might make you above the law here in McMurica but not in Russia!
That is true. Everything I've read says the amount she had in her possession was typically a fine and a couple of weeks in a Russian gulag - then probably deportation. The 9 years is about the importation of drugs, which they've been very consistent about when it comes to time in the pokey.
Why didn't Audrey Lorber get a 10 year sentence? She was arrested at a Russian airport a few years ago with 19 grams of weed and released after 2 months.
No need. I was making a point. Its quite obvious the reason is strained relations between the two countries due to the US providing weapons to Ukraine. See my first post from a month ago.
"It doesn't matter what the amount is, she was charged with smuggling which is a 10 year penalty."
My whole point is Griner was used as a pawn because Russia is pissed off with our support towards Ukraine. She wasn't sentenced to ten years for a couple half used vape cartridges. If she was arrested for this a few years ago, she would have gotten a slap on the wrist, like Audrey Lorber did.
And for the record, I'm glad she's home, but I doubt agree with trading an arms dealer for her. It was a bullshit deal.
Thanks for the take. I legit didn't know. I think democrats probably already had the LGBT vote regardless of whatever happened with this since republicans are not the LGBT party.
Yeah the country is a mess because every "issue" has to be either Pro or Anti Republican. We can't just have common sense. The democrats are FOR every issue below, so by definition, Republicans have to be against it, or at least that's the perception by the LSM (Lame Stream Media).
Gun Control
Minorities
LGBTQ
More COVID mandates
Abortion
Environment
Anti-Corporate
Anti-Capitalism
Higher Taxes
Welfare
Two examples where "common sense" would be to just find middle ground, are Abortion and Gun Control. I wish both sides could simply agree that Late Term abortions are BAD, and so are AK 47s.
D) (S)he's an America hating cunt that broke Russian law and deserves to serve her/his full sentence seeing as (s)he thinks America, the country that gave her/him all the opportunities to become what (s)he is, is oppressive to her/him. It sure looks like you followed that user to another thread and tried to continue a previous conversation. You are a troll and also a gigantic hypocrite.

Are you mentally retarded? That was the post I first replied to you on, I didn't exactly need to search for it. You're a fucking hypocrite idiot zoomer.
The world is full of unjust laws, and unjustly applied laws, and only a complete fucking idiot would break the laws of an unfriendly nation during a time of political tension. And if anyone here is willing to stake their freedom on the principle that it's okay to break unjust laws, I dare you to go to a Muslim theocracy and blaspheme against the prophet!
Russia doesnt mess around with foreigners corrupting their country with illegal drugs. Its their laws and they have every right of making an example out of her. Her sentence will probably make many other stoners think twice about international drug smuggling and save more important people potentially the same outcome. Good riddance!
